Norwalk Bar Busted for Underage Drinking to Give Up Permit

A Norwalk bar where more than 100 underage patrons were found one night in April has agreed to close its doors for good.

The Department of Consumer Protection said Monday that the permit will be canceled for Johnny Utah's in Norwalk.

Liquor control officers conducted an inspection on the night of April 19 and found more than 100 underage customers, mainly from Fairfield University.

Officers called for assistance from police officers, an ambulance and public safety officers from the university. The bar has been closed since then.

The bar's ownership also has paid a fine of $20,000 and agreed to reimburse Norwalk for police resources and Fairfield University for the use of a private bus service that took students back to campus.
