Nursing Home Makes Plea for State Cash

The largest employer in Griswold threatens to close if it doesn't get more money from the state government.

The business is a nursing home with 120 employees that is reliant on Medicaid payments for its 90 patients.

Griswold Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center wants $4.8 million to pay for a new roof and fire-safety sprinkler system.

The Department of Social Services held a hearing in the home, which continues to operate despite the fire hazard.

Workers told officials to keep the home open and keep them working.
