Officer Hurt Responding to Store Robbery

A West Haven police officer is recovering after he was hurt responding to a jewelry store robbery on Wednesday morning.

Christopher Stratton IV, a three-year veteran of the force,  crashed on Platt Avenue around 10 a.m., according to police. 

Stratton was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where he is expected to be held overnight for observation.

Stratton was responding to a call at Goldstein’s Jewelry on Campbell Avenue after a man walked into the store and took a gold chain he had asked to look at.

Police are looking for a man between 25 and 30 years old who was wearing a dark baseball cap, dark blue hoody and gray pants.
