Hartford Shooting Victim Might Have Been Lyft Driver: Police

Police said the victim had been shot in the back and crashed into a fence.

The 34-year-old man who died after being shot in the back and crashing into a fence in Hartford early Thursday morning might have been a driver for the ride-sharing service, Lyft, police said, and they are looking into the possibility that he was shot while providing service.

Shotspotter detected six rounds on Brookfield Street at 2:42 a.m. and the victim, 34-year-old Miguel Perez, of Hartford, crashed around a block and a half away, at 19 Hamilton St., according to police.

Police said Perez was transported to Hartford Hospital, where he was and pronounced dead.

It appears Perez was targeted, according to police.
