Plea Deal Offered in UConn Beating Death

Edi Rapo has three weeks to think over a plea deal in connection with charges he punched a UConn student who later died from the blow.

Authorities said Rapo, who was not a UConn student, punched Jafar Karzoun in the face in April 2010 at the Storrs campus during the Spring Weekend celebration.

Karzoun, 20, of Milford fell to the ground, hit his head and died a week later, police said.

Rapo, 20, of East Hartford, was charged with manslaughter and appeared in Rockville Superior Court on Friday.

His lawyer declined to disclose details of the plea offer, but said the case is expected to be resolved at the next court appearance on June 3.
