Plymouth Library Association Shuts Down

A sad day for people who visit the Plymouth Library Association.

After over 140 years of service, the library permanently shut down on Saturday.

The president of the association said there simply wasn't enough money in the budget to keep it open.

They've been selling off their books to customers ahead of closing day.

Those we spoke with said they believe the internet played a role in why the library closed.

"Fewer and fewer people are looking at books and magazines and as a result they can get all that material at home without coming to the library," President of the Plymouth Library Association Michael Malley said.

The library said it is looking into giving all the books to book dealers or seeing whether other libraries could use them.
