Plymouth Police Seek Suspects Who Fled Scene of Crash Involving Stolen Car

NBC Connecticut

Plymouth police have called off a search for two suspects that prompted them to ask some residents to remain in their homes, though there will be extra patrols in the area Thursday night.

According to police, officers were searching for two suspects who fled the scene of an accident in the area of South Main Street a Greystone Road. Police said the vehicle involved was stolen out of Madison, and that the people in it ran off into the woods before officers arrived.

Officers, including a Waterbury Police Department K9, searched the area of South Main near Lane Hill, but the search was called off due to weather and darkness. Investigators believe the suspects may have escaped the search area.

Police have been diligently searching the area for them in all kinds of harsh conditions. Currently, they have not been apprehended," Captain Edward Benecchi of the Plymouth Police Department said.

One of the suspects was described as a thin tall male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. There was no description available for the other suspect.

Police warned people if they see a suspicious person in the area, to not confront the person but call 911 instead. There will be extra patrols in the area all night.
