One person is injured after a shooting on Route 8 southbound in Bridgeport on Tuesday morning and part of the highway remains closed as police conduct their investigation.
Troopers were called to the exit 5 on-ramp on Route 8 south around 5:30 a.m. after getting a report of shots fired.
State Dept. of Transportation officials said the highway is closed between exits 5 and 3. Traffic is being diverted off of exit 5 and the exit 5 on-ramp is closed while police investigate.

According to state police, one person was injured and sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Bridgeport police said a man entered St. Vincent's Medical Center shortly before 3 a.m. with a gunshot wound to his foot. Investigators said preliminary reports suggest he was injured in the incident on Route 8 southbound.
The investigation is ongoing.
