Police Arrest Suspect in New Britain Kidnapping: PD

New Britain police have arrested a man charged in an alleged kidnapping earlier this month.

Police had been searching for 21-year-old Shaquille Marquez since the incident on Jan. 7.

According to police, on that day they received multiple 911 calls for a possible kidnapping. Witnesses reported that a man, later identified as Marquez, had grabbed a woman at 194 East Street and forced her into a car, then drove off.

The victim was later found safe in New Britain.

Police said Marquez had a domestic relationship with the victim.

Marquez was arrested Tuesday. He faces charges of assault and kidnapping. He was also charged with violating conditions of his release.

Hartford Police, West Hartford Police, East Hartford Police, Connecticut State Police and the New Britain States Attorney’s Office were all involved in this investigation.
