Sharon Man Wanted By Police Taken Into Custody in New York

A man wanted in Connecticut and New York for two separate incidents was captured in New York after fleeing from police who were trying to serve him with a warrant in Sharon, Connecticut, according to police.

New York State Police said they were investigating 28-year-old Raymond Sprague, of Sharon, Connecticut, on Sept. 3 because of a domestic dispute in the town of Northeast and obtained a warrant charging him with third-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing and second-degree criminal trespass.

Then around 8 p.m. on Monday night, Connecticut State Police received a report of a disturbance in Sharon. They identified Sprague as the suspect and obtained a warrant for him on assault-related charges, according to police.

Connecticut state police tried to serve the arrest warrant on West Meadow Road in Sharon around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, but Sprague was uncooperative and fled from troopers, authorities said.

With Sprague on the lam, Sharon public schools were placed in precautionary lockout on Wednesday afternoon and state police sent out a news release saying they were searching for the suspect, who should be considered armed and dangerous.

Sprague was located later Wednesday in Amenia, New York, held in custody and arraigned. He is due back in court in New York on Sept. 30.
