A police cruiser was hit from behind on the Post Road in Fairfield Thursday evening.
Police said the driver of the car that hit the police cruiser is suspected of being under the influence.
The officer involved in the crash sustained minor injuries, according to police.
Many officers remained at the scene to investigate, police said.
Post Road was closed between Sasco Hill Road and River Road but has since reopened, according to police.
Drivers are asked to remain cautious in the area.
