A suspected shoplifter led police on a chase spanning three communities Wednesday night.
The wild ride started in East Haven and traveled down Route 80 into North Branford. It finally ended in Guilford where police had set up stop sticks.
Neighbors across from where the SUV stopped watched the scene unfold.
"When I looked out the window, that's when I saw the guy with cop cars on his tail. He jumped out the drivers side started running, so I got out my front door here, and I saw a girl jump out of the back seat and that's when the cops were like get on the ground, get on the ground right there," said George Riley.
Police told neighbors they caught up with the man and took him into custody.
Sadly, no OJ-style helicopter camera shots were available.
