South Windsor police are investigating six vehicle break-ins at the L.A. Fitness in South Windsor.
The person or people responsible smashed the windows of half a dozen cars and stole purses, a laptop and wallets that were in plain view on the back seats of the vehicles, police said.
Investigators believe the break-ins happened between 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
South Windsor police advise residents to "check their vehicles before exiting, making sure all valuable items are hidden from view or stowed in the trunk."
"When possible, park in a well-lit area in view of the business front doors and report suspicious activity immediately," South Windsor police said in a news release.
