Columbia Home Invasion Suspects Posed as Salesmen: Police

Police are investigating a home invasion on Route 87 in Columbia Friday.

According to the Columbia Resident State Trooper’s office, the home invasion occurred at a residence on Route 87 by the lake.

According to the victim, two men rang his doorbell just before 4 p.m. and when he opened the door, they asked him if he wanted to buy vinyl siding for his house.

After letting them in, the two men assaulted him, according to the victim.

The suspects left in what was described as an older-model black Dodge utility van.  The van did not have any visible windows or doors on the side but had two double doors on the back.

There was significant rust on the right rear quarter panel, the victim said.
