1 Dead, 3 Hurt in Crash in New Haven

One man is dead and three other people were injured in a crash in New Haven late Tuesday night.

Police officers responded to Ella T. Grasso, between Lamberton Street and Washington Avenue, at 11:42 p.m. after a 2002 Toyota Camry crashed and they found the driver, a 29-year-old West Haven man; and a 32-year-old New Haven man, sitting on the sidewalk after Good Samaritans pulled them from the vehicle, according to police.

Another person who was in the car was found walking on the Boulevard. Twenty-nine-year-old Jovany Rosas-Marquez, of New Haven, had been in the back seat and was critically injured. Police said he died at 12:27 a.m. at the hospital.

Investigators are looking into reports that the people who were involved in the crash had come from a pool-hall in Orange.

Police said they suspect high speeds and erratic driving were factors in the crash and they are investigating.
