Police Arrest Suspect in Double Shooting in Hartford

Police believe the shooting was the result of a person feud,

Police have arrested a Bristol man in connection with a double shooting in Hartford that killed one teen and injured another.

Police have charged 24-year-old William Moore, of Bristol, with murder, assault in the first degree and criminal possession of a firearm. He is in the custody of the Hartford Police Department on a $1.5 million bond and is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.

The shooting happened on the second floor of 898 Park St. in a common hallway of the large residential building, according to police.

They identified the teen who died as 17-year-old Karlonzo Taylor, of Hartford.

“CREC is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Karlonzo Taylor last evening. Karlonzo was a CREC student since 2013, when he was in sixth grade. During his time at CREC he endeared himself to many staff and students who are devastated by his sudden and tragic death,” Supt. Tim Sullivan said in a statement.

Police have not identified the other 17-year-old boy who was shot, but said he is in stable condition and is expected to recover fully from his injuries.

Neither teen lived in the building.

Police said in a news release Thursday that “the victim and the suspect were known to each other and that the shooting was a direct result of a personal feud.”

Sullivan said the school district is providing grief counseling and support for both staff and students.

This was the 20th homicide in Hartford this year.
