Death of Man Found on Route 2 in East Hartford Ruled a Homicide

Police said a state Department of Transportation worker found the body.

A man found dead along Route 2 in East Hartford early Tuesday morning died from gunshot wounds to the head and torso and his death is a homicide, according to the office of the chief medical examiner.

A Connecticut Department of Transportation employee found the body of 23-year-old Jermaine Williams, of Vernon, on Route 2 early Tuesday morning, according to police.

Troopers said they were called to Route 2 westbound in East Hartford around 3:30 a.m. to investigate.

Paramedics also responded, confirmed the man found in the road was dead and determined his death was a homicide, police said.

Detectives from Central District Major Crimes Squad responded to the scene and assumed the homicide investigation.

The Exit 4 off-ramp on Route 2 westbound was closed for hours while police investigated.
