Police Investigate Smash-and-Grabs at Verizon Stores

Police are investigating smash-and-grab burglaries at three Verizon stores in eastern Connecticut.

Plainfield police said they happened at Verizon stores in Putnam, Killingly and Plainfield.

Authorities responded to the Verizon store on Lathrop Road in Plainfield at 4:20 a.m. and an officer saw a dark SUV parked in the fire lane in front of the store.

When the officer drove up to it, he saw a man wearing a ski mask in the store.

After spotting the oficer, the masked man got into the SUV and fled from the area, police said.

Police chased the vehicle onto Interstate 395 South, but ended the pursuit because of excessive speeds, police said.
