An 8-year-old boy was injured when a gun went off in Hartford on Monday morning and he is in critical, but stable condition, according to police.
Officers responded to Vine Street at 11:35 a.m. to investigate after a report of a firearm discharge that injured an 8-year-old boy and found the child conscious.
He was transported to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that the boy was alone in a room with a firearm when it went off. The case is being investigated as an accident.
The investigation is underway.
