A police officer who was on patrol Monday night discovered a fire in a pizzeria in Greenwich and alerted the fire department.
Police said Officer Brian Andronaco noticed smoke around 11 p.m. in the Cos Cob section of town and tracked the source to 522 East Putnam Ave., a commercial building that houses Pizza Post, Gofer Ice Cream, and several other businesses and offices, police said.
Officer Andronaco alerted the fire department and crews extinguished the fire.
Police said the fire department is investigating the cause of the fire.
