A 43-year-old man is in serious condition after being shot multiple times at the corner of Walnut and Irion streets in Waterbury, according to police.
Police said the victim was is in serious but stable condition at St. Mary's Hospital.
The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. Police said the male suspect initially tried to get away in a green Toyota but crashed and then fled on foot.
Investigators are talking to witnesses in an effort to identify him and track him down.
There is currently an active crime scene at the intersection of Walnut and Irion, the intersection will be closed for another couple hours while authorities investigate, according to police.
