Police Warn of Heavy Traffic for Luke Bryan Concert

Luke Bryan has become one of the “it” guys in country music and Hartford police are preparing for a crowd when he performs at Comcast Theater in Hartford.

The Luke Bryan Dirt Road Diaries tour stops in Hartford on Friday night. The show is sold out and police are putting out an advance warning of traffic delays expected.

“With more than 25,000 expected in attendance this Friday at the Comcast Theatre, motorists should expect traffic delays in and around the Downtown and North Meadows and on Interstate 91 and Interstate 84 in Hartford throughout the day and evening,” Deputy Chief of Police William F. Long, Chief of Operations for the Hartford Police Department, said.

Police are also warning teens and their parents about a zero tolerance for underage drinking at concert venues.

If you’re not one of Bryan’s thousands of fans, you might know some of his songs, including “All My Friends Say ,” “Rain Is A Good Thing,” “Country Girl (Shake It For Me).” 

Thompson Square was supposed to open fro Bryan, but had to cancel because of illness.

Keifer Thompson said in a statement that he is battling a very serious vocal condition.

Colin Swindell will open in their place.

The concert event is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., but police expect traffic to be heavy from 3 p.m. on.

“Rush hour commuters should expect significant traffic delays and if at all possible consider alternative routes to avoid the area completely. Concert goers should plan extra travel time to and from the concert venue,” Long said in a statement.

“Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye” was nominated for CMT video of the year and male video of the year. He and Ryan Tedder were nominated for CMT Performance of the Year for “Drunk on You.”
