Power Outages Drop After Portland Problem

A substation problem in Portland knocked out power to almost 10,000 people in five towns, but it has been restored.

When the power went out at 2:45 p.m., the outrage affected 9,800 Connecticut Light & Power customers in Portland, East Hampton, Colchester, Marlborough and East Haddam, CL&P officials said.

Crews fixed the problem by 4:30 p.m. Most of the customers were in East Hampton.

CL&P publishes an outage map on its Web site.
