Post-Prom Boozing Ends in Arrest, Hospitalization

A post-prom party in Cornwall got so out of control that three kids wound up in the hospital for boozing so hard – and a 48-year-old man was arrested.

Sunday morning, state police busted the party, which was held after the Housatonic Valley Regional High School prom, according to the Hartford Courant.  They arrested Ralph Dzenutis, the man whose house the party was held at, police said.

Between 80 and 100 kids under 21 were imbibing on Dzenutis’ property, police said. Three were sent to the hospital for “extreme intoxication.”

A 15-year-old was so drunk on Sunday morning that he was incoherent and couldn’t respond to any stimulus.

It took state police hours to clear the scene because an adult parent was called to pick up each child, according to a state police news release.

Dzenutis is charged with permitting a minor to illegally possess liquor on his property and risk of injury to a minor. Dzenutis was issued a $2,500 non-surety bond and is due in court May 26.
