A Bridgeport Spanish-language radio station is doing its part to raise money for the Haiti relief effort.
WCUM-1450AM-Radio Cumbre hopes to bring the city's Latino and Haitian communities together and call on listeners to make a donation toward the relief effort.
Radio Cumbre broadcasted from the East Side Senior Center at 407 Artic St. and Mayor Bill Finch was expected to make an appearance at the radiothon.
“I urge everyone to tune in and make a donation. Many thanks to Rosa Correa and Pierre D'Haiti, who, along with many members of the City's Haitian and Latino communities, plan to be on the radio appealing for funds. I also want to extend a sincere note of thanks to Pablo Colon, owner of WCUM for donating his time and radio waves to this very worthy effort.”
