Rain Causes Issues on Roads

About 2.5 inches of rain fell between yesterday and today.

After weeks of high fire danger because of dry conditions, some significant rain has fallen on Connecticut.

Flood warnings were in effect on Sunday and Bridgeport received about 2.5 inches of rain, while Groton received about 2.28 inches as of 6:40 a.m.

The rain seems to have caused some issues on the road on Monday.

There was a crash on Monday morning on the Merritt Parkway South in New Cannan, between exits 39A/B and 38.

A crash on Interstate 84 Westbound in Plainville between exits 33 and 32 closed the right lane of the highway.

In Salisbury, Route 7 was closed at exit 1 for several hours because of a tree in the roadway.

The American Red Cross was called to help a Beacon Falls family of three with temporary housing after a tree damaged their home on Cook Lane.

Officials from the Red Cross said they were called to help on Dover Street in Bridgeport, where a roof was damaged due to heavy rain.

No severe weather alerts are in effect for Monday morning.
