Report: Teacher Charged With Extortion

A Somers High School teacher was arrested.

A high school teacher in Somers has been charged with extortion, state police told the Hartford Courant.

Heather Sharp, 30, of Somers, was arrested on Wednesday, according to court documents  and charged with first-degree larceny by extortion, two counts of third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

The Courant reports that the charges are connected to an ongoing investigation of domestic violence allegations that include "physical abuse and extortion."

The Somers High School Web site lists Somers as a math teacher. She also the softball coach, according to the Web site Coaches Aid.
