UConn defensive end Marcus Campbell, who was suspended from the team last week, has been arrested, accused of stealing a backpack containing a laptop computer.
Campbell, a 22-year-old junior. missed the 2009 season because of academic issues, played in 23 games for UConn and was suspended last week for an unspecified violation of team rules.
The Daily Campus reports that Campbell was arrested outside the Family Studies Building on the Storrs campus on Monday morning on a warrant. He is accused of stealing the backpack, which contained items worth $825.
Whether the charges are connected to his suspension is not clear.
Campbell had been expected to start this season but tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during practice in August and had season-ending surgery.
He is due in court on Nov. 17. Messages the Associated Press left seeking comment were left Monday with a team spokesman.
