Robber Pistol-Whipped Hamden Gas Station Employee: Police

A teenage gas station employee in Hamden was robbed and pistol-whipped last week and police are looking for the person who did it.

Police said they responded to the Citgo gas station at 1978 State St. around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday after receiving reports of an armed robbery.

They said a 19-year-old Hamden man who works at the gas station was walking home after closing the place when another man held a gun against his stomach and demanded money.

The robber “pistol-whipped” the victim, hitting him on the top of the head, held the teen at gunpoint and ordered him to walk back to the gas station, open the cash register and give the robber cash, police said.

The robber then ran off toward Franklin Road. Police searched for him, but did not find anyone.

They are looking for a 5-feet-9 to 6-feet tall man who appeared to be 40 years old. He was wearing dark clothing at the time of the robbery.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Hamden Police Department Detective Division at (203) 230-4000.
