Rocky Neck, Hammonasset, Other State Parks Close After Reaching Capacity

Multiple state parks including Rocky Neck and Hammonasset have closed after reaching capacity on Sunday.

Once a park reaches capacity, it is closed to new visitors for the day. Any parks that close on Sunday will reopen to new visitors tomorrow.

The following parks have reached parking capacity and are now closed:

  • Bigelow Hollow State Park in Union
  • Black Rock State Park in Watertown
  • Burr Pond State Park in Torrington
  • Devil's Hopyard State Park in East Haddam
  • Gardner Lake State Park in Salem
  • Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison
  • Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford
  • Lake Waramaug State Park in Kent
  • Millers Pond State Park in Haddam
  • Mount Tom State Park in Litchfield
  • Rocky Neck State Park in East Lyme
  • Satan's Kingdom State Park in New Hartford
  • Scantic River State Park, Powder Hollow in Enfield
  • Sherwood Island State Park in Westport
  • Silver Sands State Park in Milford
  • Wadsworth Falls State Park in Middletown

Sunday is expected to be the hottest day of the year so far with temperatures in the high 90s across most of the state and near 100 in Hartford.
