A Terryville construction company is planning to donate a roof to a family in need from Bristol or Terryville. It's their way of giving back in these tough economic times.
Jay LaChance and Chris Raboin, the owners of Jay LaChance Construction in Terryville, came up with the idea after hearing stories about other companies giving to people in need. Both say they're fortunate to have plenty of business, at a time when so many others are struggling.
"My partner and I put our heads together and we basically said what can we offer the community that's going to pay back over time," said LaChance.
They've lined up donations from several local companies, including shingles that will come from Forestville Lumber in Plainville. They are also collecting monetary donations for clothing and food to give to the family. Now, all they need to do is find the family. They're accepting nominations from the Bristol and Terryville communities.
"We're looking for somebody who has recently lost their job and is in need of a roof," said LaChance.
They say a new roof is valued at around $15,000 and will last up to 30 years. They say they're also hoping to inspire other companies to give back in these challenging times.
