Route 10 in Southington Reopened After Crash

Route 10 (Main Street) in Southington has reopened after a car struck a utility pole Tuesday morning.

Southington police said only minor injuries were reported. Route 10 was closed between Bristol Street and Chestnut Street while crews repaired the pole.

According to police, around 6:40 a.m. a 17-year-old girl was driving south in the area of 466 Main Street when she veered off the right side of the road and struck a pole. The vehicle continued through the pole and also hit a fire hydrant. The force of the impact caused two poles to fall, blocking the road.

The teen was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

No charges have been filed.

The road was closed for hours while the utility company made repairs but has since reopened.
