Route 12 has been closed near Killingly High School in Killingly for hours after a car crashed into a pole and knocked down wires.
The state road is closed at Soap Street and is expected to remain closed for around for or five hours.
No injuries are reported.
Buses will be able to get to the high school, but detours onto Maple or Upper Maple Street were possible.
Another detour is Interstate 395.
Eversource responded to address the downed power lines.
