Route 9 south in Haddam has reopened after a car fire, according to Connecticut State Police.
The Haddam Volunteer Fire Company said the driver heard a popping sound and pulled over, realizing his vehicle was on fire. The driver suffered minor burns but declined medical attention.
The highway was closed between exits 9 and 8 but has since reopened.
