“Grandson of God” Will Be Sent to Florida

A man who once claimed he was a "sovereign citizen" and the "grandson of God" will be sent from Connecticut to Florida to face charges connected to the shooting of a state trooper, the Register Citizen News reports.

Brody James Whitaker appeared in court in Bantam on Monday and a judge denied his petition for Writ of Habeas Corpus, which would have released him immediately and kept him from being extradited to Florida.

In a handwritten note attached to his Writ of Habeas Corpus, Whitaker argues he is exempt from penalty since he is the "Sovereign Chief Ruler of my nation," reports the Register Citizen.

Whitaker is wanted in Florida on charges of aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer. On March 25, the Florida highway patrol says he led them on a chase and fired shots at two officers. Whitaker was later arrested in the Winsted, Connecticut, area on April 8.
