Primaries Today in 21 Cities and Towns

Twenty-one cities and towns will hold primaries on Sept. 13.

Polls will be open in 21 cities and towns on Tuesday, Sept. 13, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. for municipal primaries.

Voters have until noon on Monday, Sept. 12th to register and be able to cast a ballot in the primaries the following day. Unaffiliated voters have until the same deadline to enroll in a major party if they want to vote in the primary in their community.

Absentee ballots are now available. To be counted for the municipal primary, your application must be to the town clerk’s offices no later than 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011.

The city of Bridgeport will hold its primary for mayor, city council, sheriff, town and city clerk on Tuesday Sept. 27.

Most Connecticut municipalities will hold a general election for municipal candidates on Nov. 8.

You can check on the Secretary of the State’s website to see if you are registered to vote and to find your polling place.

East Hartford: Democratic primary for mayor and Republican primary for town council and board of education

Farmington: Republican primary for town council

Guilford: Democratic primary for board of education

Hartford: Democratic primary for mayor, city council for Districts 1 and 2 and treasurer

Lebanon: Republican primary for Selectman

Lisbon: Democratic primary for first selectman and Republican primary for selectman and board of education

Killingworth: Democratic primary for first selectman and Republican primary for treasurer, tax collector, board of finance, board of assess. app., P&Z, ZBA and fire commissioner

Middlebury: Republican primary for first selectman and selectman

Middletown: Democratic primary for mayor, common council and treasurer

New Britain: Democratic primary for mayor and Republican primary for alderman, Ward 4

New Haven: Democratic primary for mayor and alderperson for districts 2, 3, 6, 9, 13, 14, 18, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29 and 30

New London: Democratic primary for mayor

North Stonington: Republican primary for first selectman

Norwalk: Republican primary for 3rd taxing district commissioner

Oxford: Republican primary for first selectman and selectman

Scotland: Republican primary for selectman

Stratford: Democratic primary for council in districts 4 and 4B and Republican primary for council, districts 5 and 7

Trumbull: Republican primary for council, District 2

West Haven: Democratic primary for mayor, tax collector, board of education, board of assessor app., councilman-at-large and councilman for districts 2, 3, 4, 6, 7,8 and 9.

Bridgeport’s primary will be held on Sept. 27 for Democratic candidates for mayor, city clerk, town clerk, city sheriff and councilman for districts 130, 132, 135, 137 and 139
