Motorcyclist injured in Ellington crash

A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after a crash in Ellington on Saturday.

State police said a 52-year-old man from Coventry was riding a motorcycle on West Road near Lower Butcher Road around 12:10 p.m.

At the same time, troopers said an 85-year-old woman from Vernon was pulling out of the parking lot of the Ellington Agway to go northbound on West Road.

Investigators said the woman didn't see the motorcyclist heading towards her. The motorcyclist reportedly tried to stop, but was not able to and hit the back driver's side of the woman's vehicle.

The motorcyclist was transported to Hartford Hospital by LifeStar to be treated for an apparent head injury.

The crash is currently under investigation.
