19-Year-Old WCSU Student Killed in I-95 Crash in Old Lyme

A Western Connecticut State University student has died following an early morning car crash.

State police say 19-year-old Michael Deangelo, of East Haven, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Deangelo's car veered off Interstate 95 in Old Lyme and crashed into a sound barrier around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

No other vehicles were involved. The crash remains under investigation.

Deangelo was a freshman at Western Connecticut State University and member of the school's baseball team.

School spokesman Paul Steinmetz says the university plans to make counseling services available to students.
