A severe flu season is causing problems for some schools in the state.
Stepping Stones Early Learning Center in Danielson announced they were closed Friday because most of its teachers are sick with the flu.
In a Facebook post, school leaders said they hope to be open on Monday.
The director of health services at Woodstock Academy sent a note home to parents. In effort to prevent the spread of the flu, they’re urged parents to keep sick children home.
At Pomfret Community School, they are alerting parents the flu is starting to spread there. The school is asking parents to let them know why a child is out when they call in an absence so they can give extra attention to cleaning in certain classrooms.
Flu activity in the state remains high and widespread and officials encourage residents to get a flu shot. Officials warn that peak flu season could still be several weeks away.
In an effort to protect the public’s health and reduce the spread of the flu virus, DPH will hold a State Flu Vaccination Day Saturday.
