Several swimming areas are closed Wednesday because of high bacteria levels, officials said.
Stratford announced on Twitter that Short Beach is closed because of high bacterial counts.
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection announced in a release the swimming areas at Silver Sands State Park in Milford, Day Pond State Park in Colchester and Wharton Brook State Park in Wallingford are closed.
DEEP does routine testing for state parks. Local beaches and swimming areas are the responsibility of the respective towns.
