Signs Opposing Marijuana Dispensary in Milford Stolen From Lawns

Milford Police have recovered signs opposing a legal marijuana dispensary that were stolen off residents lawns.

Police said 12 of 15 signs stolen Saturday were recovered Monday. An anonymous tipster found the signs stacked in an area on Fresh Meadow Lane.

The sign reads “Relocate Marijuana Dispensary” for residents against having a proposed marijuana dispensary blocks away from them.

The dispensary has been a hot button topic. Milford's planning and Zoning Commission has now received an application for the site plan which will be discussed during P&Z's Apr. 5 meeting.

It’s an issue more and more Connecticut neighborhoods will face over the next couple of years.

Gail Haas said when she looked outside her front yard Saturday every sign, including hers, was gone.

“You do feel violated because obviously someone has come in the middle of the night and gone on your property and stolen your property," said Haas.

To prevent their signs from being stolen again some residents are bringing their signs in overnight. Some are going as far as locking their signs to the ground.

Police said they do not have any suspects at this time, but whoever it is could face larceny charges.
