Six people were injured when a deck collapsed in Fairfield Sunday night as a family was grilling.
The people on the deck fell around seven feet and one of the six people injured sustained serious injuries in the collapse.
The incident occurred on Rhode Island Avenue around 6:30 p.m.
The deck collapsed away from the house and no one was trapped under the deck, according to firefighters.
Police said five people went to Bridgeport Hospital by ambulance and one drove himself there.
The injuries do not appear to be life-threating.
The building inspector was called to the scene to investigate the collapse.
