At least one half of the Connecticut General Assembly plans to attempt to override a gubernatorial veto that both Democrats and Republicans say unfairly harms the restaurant industry.
Democratic House Speaker Joe Aresimowicz, of Berlin, says the House of Representatives will vote Monday to overturn Democratic Gov. Ned Lamont's veto of legislation requiring the Department of Labor to clarify a rule concerning wages paid to servers and bartenders.
The Connecticut Restaurant Association says its members have been told by the agency for years it's legal not to count every minute those workers perform a task other than serving, so long as it's less than 20 percent of their shift. But the restaurant owners are now facing lawsuits.
It's unclear if the Senate will also try to override the veto.
