Some New Britain schools are on “soft lockdown” because of an incident in the neighborhood, according to police.
Chamberlain, Smith and the Roosevelt Campus -- HALS, Smalley Learning Center, Satellite Careers Academy -- were put into a lockdown around 12:50 p.m.
Paul Salina, the chief operations officer for the Consolidated School District of New Britain, said police are investigating and are in the area of the three schools and the schools are continuing with normal activities, other than students going outside.
Schools will be dismissed at normal times.
