Stamford Man Throws Gun in River During Arrest: Police

A Stamford man threw his gun into the Mill River during an arrest, police said.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Jordan Young, 19, a convicted felon of Stamford, after he attacked and stabbed a woman earlier January who he had allegedly been harassing for months, police said.

On Tuesday, police went to a residence on West Forest Lawn Street in order to arrest Young for assault. Upon arriving, Young slammed the front doors on police officers and ran upstairs to a porch on the second floor, Stamford police reported.

Police outside of the residence saw Young throw a loaded handgun into the Mill River. A .380 Bryco firearm was located on the bank of the river by Stamford Fire and Rescue officials.

Young faces assault, possession of a handgun by a felon and interfering with police charges. His bond is set at $75,000 for the assault charge and $100,000 for the other two charges.

Police said this is the eighth gun taken from convicted criminals in Stamford so far this year.
