Stamford Motorcyclist Killed in Crash

Fernando Quintero-Montano's motorcycle and an SUV collided.

A Stamford man died on Monday night after his motorcycle and a Nissan Pathfinder collided.

Fernando Quintero-Montano, 38, was driving a 1997 Kawasaki motorcycle in the 600 block of Hope Street at 7:30 p.m. when the bike and a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Francisco Gaviola, 24, of Norwalk, collided, police said.

Qunitero-Montano was not wearing a helmet, police said, and sustained multiple injuries, including severe head trauma.

Stamford EMS treated Qunitero-Montano at the scene and brought him to Stamford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:20 p.m.

Gaviola was transported to Stamford Hospital, where he was treated for a minor injury and released.

The Stamford Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is investigating and police said they are looking into whether excessive speed was a factor.
