Teen Hires Thugs to Beat Accused Pot Stealer: Cops

A Redding teen hired a homeless man and teens to assault another teen, cops said

An 18-year-old Redding woman was so mad about her marijuana being stolen that she hired a homeless man and two teens to beat up the 21-year-old Monroe man she says took the weed, police said.

Emily Stearns, of Redding, lured the victim to the Last Drop Coffee Shop Wednesday, the Connecticut Post reports. When he got there, the hired band of assailants, wearing masks and carrying baseball bats, confronted the victim in the parking lot and beat him with the bats, police said.

As if bats weren't enough, one of the hired teens also had pepper spray and brass knuckles in his pocket, the Post reports, citing police.

Stearns told the others she wanted the man "especially hurt and humiliated," police told the Post. He is being treated at Bridgeport Hospital.

Police arrived during the assault and arrested all four people, who were detained in lieu of bail.

Stearns is charged with first-degree assault.
