Temperatures remained below freezing in parts of the state this morning, turning roads into virtual skating rinks.

One of the worst problems was on Interstate 95 North, which was closed on the West Haven-New Haven line from 3:15 a.m. until around 10:15 p.m.

Officials from DOT said they put 634 state trucks out on the roads and the entire fleet has been out since last night, but this was not a plowable storm.

There were crashes all over the state.

Air travel was also affected, with some delays at Bradley Airport, so check with your airline before heading out.

There were also several power outages, including 2,106 in Derby, 413 in Shelton and 328 in Fairfield. United Illuminating is reporting nearly 3,000 outages just before 9:30 a.m.

Heavy rain is expected later today. For more on the First Alert forecast, click here.
