Flood Warnings Issued

Flood warnings remain in effect as the Memorial Day weekend begins and roads are wet for the Friday morning commute.

There are showers in the forecast on Saturday and Sunday and temperatures will dip into the 50s after some summery weather.

Heavy rain also prompted the closure of the Rocky Hill/Glastonbury Ferry because of river flooding.

On Thursday, storms caused flooding in Danbury, including on Main Street at Wooster Street, West Street by Benedict Street and Morgan Avenue at Beaver Brook Road.

In Waterbury, the storms brought several trees down on Hamilton Avenue and in the area of Edgewood Avenue and Sylvan Avenue, according to police.

The city had minor flooding in the area of Watertown Avenue and Robbins Street, police said.

As crews dealt with weather-related calls, firefighters responded to a report of a house on Roxbury Road being struck by lightning this afternoon, but said there was no incident.
