Student Charged in Social Media Threat About School

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested after an investigation into a threatening social media post about Kelly Middle School in Norwich.

Police said they received information about the post this morning and police, as well as the school resource officer, determined that there was no credible threat against the school or any of the students, but police charged a 14-year-old boy with second-degree breach of peace.

The charges are connected to the social media post, according to police, but no additional information was released.

Police said public assistance is vital to keeping schools and students safe and anyone who reads a suspicious posting or comment or hears something suspicious should report it immediately to the Norwich Police Department.
